The Carolina Hurricanes will participate in the 2014 NHL Prospects Tournament from Sept. 12-16 in Traverse City, Mich., marking the team’s fifth appearance at the annual tournament.

The schedule and division assignments for the eight teams participating in the tournament, hosted by the Detroit Red Wings, were announced on Tuesday. The Canes join the Buffalo Sabres, Dallas Stars and New York Rangers in the Ted Lindsay Division, opposite the Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues in the Gordie Howe Division.
The Hurricanes will open their three-game round-robin slate on Friday, Sept. 12 at 4:00 p.m. against Buffalo. The Canes then face Dallas at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13 and New York at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15. The tournament will be capped on Tuesday, Sept. 16 as the teams cross divisions to play their standings’ equal; the two first-place teams will face off for the championship at 7 p.m.
The Canes’ squad captured the tournament championship in 2009. A final team roster will be released in the coming weeks.
