2011-12 SEASON
Spent the majority of the season with Lethbridge (WHL), serving as team captain in his fourth junior season… Led Lethbridge in goals (30) and points (60), both of which were career highs… Also set a career high with 30 assists…Was named the team’s most sportsmanlike player, won the Hurricanes’ community relations award and was voted “fan favorite” in an online poll… Had 16 multi-point efforts for Lethbridge, including five multi-goal games… Scored the game-winning goal and had an assist vs. Edmonton (11/19)… Netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner, and had an assist vs. Red Deer (11/29)… Had a five-game point streak from 1/2-1/13 (2g, 4a)… Notched a four-point game with two goals and two assists at Kelowna (1/20)… Joined Charlotte (AHL) on an amateur tryout after his junior season, scoring one goal in four games… Made his professional debut vs. Milwaukee (4/3)… Scored his first professional goal, the eventual game-winner, in Charlotte’s 3-0 win at Rockford (4/10).

Selected by the Hurricanes in the seventh round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft… Completed his junior career with 125 points (57g, 68a) and 137 penalty minutes in 231 career Western Hockey League (WHL) games with Saskatoon and Lethbridge… Is the son of former NHL player, coach and general manager and current Edmonton Oilers scout Duane Sutter… His cousin, Brett Sutter, plays in the Hurricanes organization… Began his WHL career with Saskatoon in 2008, before being traded to Lethbridge… Totaled nine points (4g, 5a) in 48 total games during his rookie campaign in 2008-09, and appeared in 10 of Lethbridge’s playoff games as the Hurricanes fell to Calgary in the second round… Skated in a career-high 72 games and earned 14 points (5g, 9a) with Lethbridge during his second WHL season… Ranked fourth among Lethbridge skaters in assists (24) and points (42) and tied for fourth in goals (18) despite being limited to 46 games due to injuries in 2010-11.
