2008-09: Served as team captain for the Oakville Blades of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, totaling 36 goals and 47 assists (83 points) in 49 games played… Ranked 12th overall in league scoring… Was third in the league in playoff scoring with 34 points (17g, 17a) in 28 games.
2009-10: Totaled 19 points (10g, 9a) in 39 games during his first season of collegiate hockey at Union College in Schenectady, NY… Was one of two Dutchmen freshmen to skate in all 39 games… Had 10 points (5g, 5a) in 22 league games… Posted his first career college point with a goal against Maine (10/9)… Had his first multi-point effort with a goal and an assist vs. Maine (10/10)… Was named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week on 10/12… Earned a pair of assists at Clarkson (11/14)… Netted a goal in Union’s ECAC quarterfinal victory vs. Quinnipiac (3/14).
2010-11: Was second among Union skaters in goals (16) and points (37), earning ECAC Hockey Third Team honors during his sophomore season… Netted eight power-play goals, playing a key role on Union’s nation-leading power play (29.5%)… Skated in all 40 games for the Dutchmen, and totaled 16 points (6g, 10a) in 22 ECAC Hockey games… Had a four-point game (1g, 3a) in the season-opener vs. Sacred Heart (10/8)… Named ECAC Hockey Player of the Week on 10/19… Had his first college hat trick vs. American International (12/10)… Netted a goal in Game 3 of the ECAC Hockey quarterfinals vs. Colgate (3/13).
2011-12: Appeared in his first NHL season with Carolina, playing in one game after signing as a free agent at the conclusion of his college season… Made his NHL debut at FLA (4/7), totaling four penalty minutes in 16:32 of ice time… Recorded 27 goals, 17 assists (44 points) and 47 penalty minutes in 40 games for Union College (ECAC Hockey), ranking first on the team and fourth in the NCAA in goals (27)… His 27 goals were a school record… Was named ECAC Hockey Player of the Month for March, Most Outstanding Player of the ECAC Championship and Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA East Regional in Bridgeport, CT… Also received the William A.
