Selected by the Hurricanes in the second round (47th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft and signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Carolina on 4/3/13… Completed his junior hockey career with 172 points (93g, 79a) and 179 penalty minutes in 227 games with Guelph in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL)… Is the younger brother of Colorado Avalanche forward Jamie McGinn and Philadelphia Flyers forward Tye McGinn… Was coached by former Carolina forward Scott Walker in Guelph… Played for the Guelph Junior Storm prior to beginning his OHL career in 2010-11… Had 14 points (10g, 4a) and 38 penalty minutes during his rookie OHL season in 2010-11… Made his OHL debut vs. Owen Sound (9/24/10)… Earned his first OHL point with an assist vs. Sault Ste.
