CAROLINA NOTES
The Hurricanes took part in a four-player trade with Philadelphia on Friday that brought right wing Pavel Brendl and defenseman Bruno St. Jacques to Carolina. In exchange for Brendl and St. Jacques, the Hurricanes sent right wing Sami Kapanen and defenseman Ryan Bast to the Flyers. Brendl will make his Hurricanes debut at Anaheim on Sunday. Centerman Josef Vasicek has five goals and three assists in the last seven games.

The Carolina Hurricanes and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim meet tonight in the first of two regular-season match ups. The teams will conclude the season series on Feb. 23 at RBC Center. Last season the Hurricanes won the teams’ lone meeting on Feb. 8 at Arrowhead Pond. The Hurricanes hold an 8-4-2-0 all-time mark against Anaheim, including a 5-1-1-0 home ice record and 3-3-1-0 road record.
