HURRICANES SIGN JEFF DANIELS TO ONE-YEAR DEAL

Veteran winger enters his seventh season with the franchise

RALEIGH, N.C. – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the team has signed left wing Jeff Daniels to a one-year contract. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not announced.

“Jeff is a really dependable character player for our organization,” said Rutherford. “We are happy to have him signed for another season.”

Daniels, who will turn 35 in June, completed his sixth season with the franchise and 12th in the NHL in 2002-03. Originally signed by Carolina as a free agent prior to the 1999-00 season, Daniels tallied four points (0g, 4a) in 59 games for the Hurricanes last season. A key part of Carolina’s penalty killing unit, Daniels has tallied 20 points (8g, 12a) in 272 career games with the franchise.

Daniels has totaled 43 points (17g, 26a) in 425 career NHL games for Pittsburgh, Florida, Nashville and Carolina.
