HURRICANES LOOKING FOR A FEW GOOD CANIACS
Casting Call for 2003-04 TV Spots, Monday, Aug. 18
RALEIGH, N.C. (Aug. 10, 2003) – Ken Lehner, Vice President of Marketing Communications for the Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the Hurricanes will be looking for up to 30 Caniacs to participate as extras in their new television ad campaign set to debut this fall. Interested Caniacs should visit the RBC Center on Monday, Aug. 18 starting at 6 p.m. to fill out an application. All applicants need to bring a minimum of a 3”-by-5” photo of themselves and the understanding that the shoot will take place on Thursday, Aug. 21 during normal business hours.
“The Caniac community is a unique bond between the players and our fans,” said Lehner, “Thus, in one shot, we are going to try and combine this essence on screen.”
For the fourth consecutive year, the Hurricanes have contracted with I-40 Films, and acclaimed director Kris Hixon, to partner with CanesVision to produce the team’s television commercials. Past successes between I-40 Films and CanesVision include the “Nothing Could Be Finer” spot in 2000, the award winning “Quick Sticks” spots in 2001 and the “THIS is Hockey!” spots in 2002.
Caniacs who are selected will star alongside Ron Francis, Rod Brind’Amour, Glen Wesley, Jeff O’Neill and Kevin Weekes in three spots slated to run on local television. The ads will also air on the RBC Center’s JumboTron during the 2003-04 season.
