Former Los Angeles King signs one-year contract
Unrestricted free agent Jamie Storr signed a one-year deal on Friday to play for Carolina.

RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 3, 2003) – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed goaltender Jamie Storr to a one-year contract. As per club policy, no terms of the deal were released.
“This strengthens our goaltending tandem,” said Rutherford. “Kevin and Jamie are now coming into the primes of their careers.”
Storr, 27, has played 205 career NHL games with the Los Angeles Kings over nine seasons, posting a record of 85-78-21 with a goals-against average of 2.52. He spent all of 2002-03 with the Kings, notching a record of 12-19-2 and a 2.55 goals-against average. A first-round selection – seventh overall – of the Kings in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, Storr posted a 9-4-3 record and a 1.90 goals-against average in a backup role in 2001-02. A native of Brampton, Ont., Storr (6’ 2’’, 203 lbs.) was a member of the NHL’s all-rookie team following both the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons.
Carolina will complete its 2003 exhibition schedule with a home-and-home, back-to-back set with Washington beginning today at MCI Center and concluding Saturday at the RBC Center.
The Hurricanes open their seventh season in North Carolina on Oct. 9 at Florida, before returning to the RBC Center for their home opener, Saturday, Oct. 11 against defending Stanley Cup champion New Jersey.
