The Carolina Hurricanes continue their stretch of four straight road games on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Mellon Arena. The game marks the front half of Carolina’s first of 17 back-to-back sets this season. The Hurricanes will travel to Boston following Wednesday’s game to take on the Bruins on espn2 Thursday night.

CAROLINA NOTES
Carolina winger Erik Cole leads the team with four points (2g, 2a) through four games this season, and has been held off the scoresheet just once, Oct. 11 vs. New Jersey. Cole scored the Hurricanes’ first goal and had an assist at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, a 2-2 tie against the Rangers, his first multiple-point game since Jan. 24.

CAROLINA / PENGUINS NOTES
The Hurricanes and the Penguins meet for the first of four match ups during the 2003-04 season. The teams will play three of their four games prior to Christmas, and will conclude the season series on March 19, again at Mellon Arena. The teams will meet at the RBC Center on Nov. 29 and Dec. 18 in the second and third games of the four-game set.
Last season, the teams split a four-game series, winning once at home and scoring a shutout win on the road. Craig Adams (0g, 3a) and Kevyn Adams (2g, 1a) led Carolina against Pittsburgh in 2002-03 with three points each. Goaltender Kevin Weekes recorded a 4-0 shutout on March 6 at Mellon Arena en route a 2-1-0 record in three games against Pittsburgh. Weekes posted a 1.01 goals-against average and a .961 save percentage against the Pens in 2002-03. The Hurricanes are 37-43-10-0 all-time against Pittsburgh, including a 20-21-5-0 home mark and 17-22-5-0 road record.
