GAME NIGHT

The Carolina Hurricanes continue their four-game home stand Saturday as they play host to the Los Angeles Kings. Tonight is the Hurricanes’ third game in a span that sees them play seven of eight games at home between Nov. 2 and Nov. 18. Carolina dropped the first game of its current four-game home stand to Toronto 2-1 on Nov. 2, but rebounded with a 6-3 win Thursday against the NY Rangers.

Forward Josef Vasicek has goals in four of the Hurricanes’ last five games (10/28-11/6: 6g, 0a) and currently leads the team in goals (7), power-play goals (3) and points (10). Winger Jeff O’Neill leads the team with eight assists and ranks third on the team with nine points (1g, 8a). O’Neill (10/23-11/6: 1g, 8a) and rookie center Eric Staal (10/23-11/6: 2g, 6a) have assists in six of the last seven games.

The Hurricanes and the Kings meet for the first and only time during the 2003-04 season on Saturday at the RBC Center. The teams played a unique two-game set in 2002-03 with the Kings scoring a season-high eight goals against Carolina at Los Angeles on Feb. 7, and the teams skating to a 0-0 tie at the RBC Center on March 15. Josef Vasicek led the Hurricanes with a goal and an assist (2 points) in last year’s two-game set. The Hurricanes are 24-28-8-0 all time against the Kings, including a 14-11-5-0 home mark and a 10-17-3-0 road record.
