CAROLINA NOTES
Carolina is in the midst of its third set of back-to-back games after scoring a 3-2 overtime victory at home last night against Los Angeles. The Hurricanes finished their second of 17 back-to-back sets for 2003-04 with a 2-1 loss against Toronto at home on Nov. 2. The Hurricanes had fallen the previous night at Tampa Bay, 4-3. Carolina is currently 2-2-1-0 in back-to-back games, with a 1-1-1-0 record in the front halves of those sets and a 1-1-0-0 record in the back halves.

The Hurricanes and the Lightning meet for the second of six match ups during the 2003-04 season. The teams first met eight days ago at St. Pete Times Forum, a 4-3 Lightning win. Carolina and Tampa Bay will meet twice more at St. Pete Times Forum (1/15, 3/13) and play two more games at the RBC Center (11/23, 3/10) after today’s contest.
The Hurricanes were winless against Tampa Bay in 2002-03 for the first season in franchise history, notching just three points in the five games between the teams (0-2-2-1). Ron Francis led all Hurricanes in scoring against Tampa Bay last season with three points (1g, 2a) in five points. The Hurricanes are 23-16-8-1 all-time against the Lightning, including a 15-3-5-1 home mark and a 8-13-3-0 record in Tampa.
