RALEIGH, N.C. – Emma Bennett, Community Relations Manager for the Carolina Hurricanes, and double-platinum-selling recording artist Clay Aiken, today announced that the Kids ‘N Community Foundation and The Bubel/Aiken Foundation have formed a relationship to benefit children. The two foundations determined earlier this year that they could benefit each other in generating awareness about children’s needs and in lending a helping hand in the community.

While details of the foundations’ relationship are still being determined, monies generated from Aiken’s appearance at the Hurricanes’ game against Dallas on Dec. 22 will be channeled toward Aiken’s programming development, focusing on youth with developmental disabilities – specifically, Aiken’s plan to launch a national YMCA program that will be tested in the Triangle area.

Following Sunday’s press conference, Aiken will skate with 50 children with disabilities, and 50 non-disabled children in the “Skate With Clay” event, to showcase The Bubel/Aiken Foundation’s guiding philosophy of inclusion for children with developmental disabilities in activities with their non-disabled peers. Participating children will receive a specially designed jersey promoting The Bubel/Aiken Foundation, a donation from the Kids ‘N Community Foundation and designed by Gale Force Media. The jerseys will be on sale to the general public through Aiken’s web site and at Crabtree Valley Mall, Monday December 22, 2003.

Aiken is scheduled to perform the national anthem prior to Monday’s Hurricanes-Dallas game, and during the game’s second intermission, will perform a song from his hit album "Measure of a Man." Tickets to Monday’s 7 p.m. game are available at the Dodge Box Office at the RBC Center or by calling TicketMaster at 919.834.4000.
