HURRICANES REASSIGN DEFENSEMAN BRUNO ST. JACQUES

Blueliner Sent to AHL for Two-Week Conditioning Stint

RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 1, 2004) - Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned defenseman Bruno St. Jacques (SAINT ZHAWK) to Lowell of the American Hockey League. St. Jacques is being reassigned for a two-week conditioning stint.

St. Jacques, 23, has missed the Hurricanes' last 14 games with an abdominal strain. In 13 games this season, the Montreal, Que., native has notched one assist and accumulated six penalty minutes. St. Jacques missed one game with a shoulder injury, and has been a healthy extra for Carolina nine times.
