GAME NIGHT
The Carolina Hurricanes continue their seven-game home stand on Friday
at 7 p.m. against the Detroit Red Wings. Carolina won the first two
games of the home stand by 2-1 margins before falling to Anaheim on
Wednesday, 3-1. On Dec. 27, the Hurricanes downed Montreal in overtime
when Sean Hill scored 39 seconds into the extra stanza, and on Dec. 29,
Bret Hedican beat Buffalo's Mika Noronen to seal the Hurricanes victory.

The Hurricanes and the Red Wings meet for the first of two match ups
during the month of January. The teams will meet again on Jan. 31 at Joe
Louis Arena to wrap their two-game season series. Last season, the
Hurricanes took the teams' lone meeting, 6-4 on Nov. 29 at the RBC
Center. Jan Hlavac (3g, 0a) had a hat trick in that contest, scoring
three power-play goals, and centerman Rod Brind'Amour (0g, 3a) notched a
three-assist night. The Hurricanes hold a 24-27-7-1 all-time mark
against the Red Wings, including a 17-11-1-0 home record and a 7-16-6-1
road record.
