GAME NIGHT
The Carolina Hurricanes take on the Atlanta Thrashers in the second game of the teams' home-and-home set on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the RBC Center. Carolina rebounded from a 3-1 first-period deficit and won 4-3 at Atlanta's Philips Arena on Friday. Jeff O'Neill notched his second career hat trick in the game.

Right wing Jeff O'Neill currently leads the Hurricanes in points (25) and assists (17). O'Neill tied Pat Verbeek (192) for fifth on the franchise's all-time goal-scoring list with his hat trick at Atlanta on Jan. 16. On Jan. 11, O'Neill passed Verbeek (403) and took sole possession of third place on the franchise's all-time points list with an assist on Eric Staal's goal. Forward Josef Vasicek leads the team in goals (12), power-play goals (5) and ranks second with 21 points.

CAROLINA NOTES
Hurricanes captain Ron Francis is one goal shy of Maurice Richard (544) on the NHL's all-time goal-scoring list... Hurricanes winger Jeff O'Neill will take sole possession of fifth on the franchise's all-time goal-scoring list with his next marker... On Jan. 13, the Hurricanes recalled winger Pavel Brendl from their American Hockey League affiliate, Lowell. In his first two games with the Hurricanes this season, Brendl has notched a goal and two assists while playing on a line with Jeff O'Neill and Eric Staal.

CAROLINA / THRASHERS NOTES
The Hurricanes and the Thrashers meet tonight for the third of six regular-season match ups, and second game of a home-and-home series that began with a 4-3 Carolina win at Philips Arena on Friday. Jeff O'Neill notched his second career hat trick in Friday's game to lead the Hurricanes past the Thrashers. The Hurricanes defeated the Thrashers 5-1 at the RBC Center on Nov. 13, as Erik Cole (1g, 1a) and Ron Francis (1g, 1a) led the scoring. The teams meet three more times in 2003-04 following tonight's game: March 5 and March 15 at Philips Arena and March 12 at the RBC Center.

Last season, Atlanta scored its first two regular-season victories against the Hurricanes after Carolina posted a 12-0-3-0 record against the Thrashers in Atlanta's first three seasons. Atlanta downed the Hurricanes for the first time on Dec. 27 in Raleigh and again March 26 in Atlanta. Carolina won two of the teams' five matches, including one in overtime on Dec. 20 at Philips Arena. Jeff O'Neill posted six points (3g, 3a) in the five-game regular-season series to lead Carolina and Ilya Kovalchuk led Atlanta with nine points (6g, 3a). The Hurricanes are 16-2-4-0 all-time against the Thrashers, including a 9-1-1-0 home record and a 7-1-3-0 road mark.
