HURRICANES RECALL ZIGOMANIS FROM LOWELL
Murray Returns to Raleigh for Child's BirthRALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 1, 2004) - Jim Rutherford, President / General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled center Mike Zigomanis from Lowell of the American Hockey League. Zigomanis is being recalled to allow forward Marty Murray to be with his wife Andrea for the birth of the couple's first child.
Zigomanis, 23, leads the Lock Monsters in points (39) and assists (29) while playing in 45 games this season. The North Bay, Ont., native was named the AHL's Sher-Wood Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 25. Zigomanis (6' 1", 200 lbs.) played 19 games with the Hurricanes last season, recording two goals and an assist in his first NHL recall. The Hurricanes drafted Zigomanis in the second round, 46th overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
