GAME NIGHT
The Carolina Hurricanes begin their 27-game post-All-Star break schedule on Thursday at the RBC Center against the Washington Capitals. Neither the Hurricanes nor the Capitals have played a game since Feb. 4, one day before the All-Star break officially began, and two days after it officially ended.

Winger Justin Williams leads the Hurricanes with 30 points (9g, 21a) this season. Forward Josef Vasicek leads the team in goals (15), power-play goals (6) and ranks second on the team with 28 points while playing in all 55 of the team’s games this season. Right wing Jeff O’Neill has 27 points (10g, 17a) while playing in all 55 of Carolina’s games.

CAROLINA NOTES
On Feb. 4 at Anaheim, two Hurricanes reached the century mark in two separate categories. Kevin Weekes became the seventh goaltender to play in 100 or more games with the franchise. Weekes’ 2.38 goals-against average in his first 100 games with the Hurricanes ranks first among goaltenders playing 100 games with the franchise.

Likewise, forward Josef Vasicek notched his 100th NHL/Hurricanes point on Feb. 4. Vasicek, the team’s leading goal-scorer this season, netted the first of two Carolina markers on the evening.

CAROLINA / CAPITALS NOTES
The Hurricanes and the Capitals meet for the fifth of six 2003-04 meetings. The Capitals have taken the teams’ first four meetings this season by a combined score of 18-6. Washington and Carolina will conclude their six-game season series on Feb. 25 at MCI Center.

The Capitals won the 2002-03 five-game set between the clubs, 4-1-0-0. Ron Francis (3g, 0a), Josef Vasicek (2g, 1a), Jeff O’Neill (1g, 2a) and Jan Hlavac (1g, 2a) led the Hurricanes in scoring against Washington last season with three points each in the five-game set. The Hurricanes are 28-52-13-1 all-time against the Capitals, including a 15-23-9-1 home mark and a 13-29-4-0 record in Washington.
