GAME NIGHT
The Carolina Hurricanes jaunt northward along Interstate 95 for a 12 p.m. Valentine’s Day match up against Eastern Conference rival New Jersey at Continental Airlines Arena. This marks the Hurricanes’ second game since the NHL All-Star break after they skated to a 3-3 tie with Washington at the RBC Center on Thursday.

Winger Justin Williams leads the Hurricanes with 31 points (9g, 22a) this season. Forward Josef Vasicek leads the team in goals (15), power-play goals (6) and ranks second on the team with 29 points while playing in all 56 of the team’s games this season. Right wing Jeff O’Neill has 27 points (10g, 17a) while playing in all 56 of Carolina’s games.

CAROLINA NOTES
Hurricanes forward Josef Vasicek has 11 points (4g, 7a) in the last 13 games. The 23-year-old notched the 100th point of his Hurricanes/NHL career when he netted his sixth power-play goal of the season against Anaheim’s Martin Gerber on Feb. 4. Similarly, captain Ron Francis has notched 11 points (1g, 10a) in the last 16 games, defenseman Sean Hill has nine assists and 12 points in the last 14 games and winger Erik Cole has five points (3g, 2a) in the last seven games.

CAROLINA / DEVILS NOTES
The Hurricanes and the Devils meet for their third of four match ups during the 2003-04 regular season. New Jersey won the team’s first contest 2-1 on Oct. 11 at the RBC Center, but the Hurricanes returned the favor with a 2-1 victory at Continental Airlines Arena on Jan. 21. The teams will meet once more this season, March 6 at the RBC Center.

The Devils and Hurricanes split their four-game, 2002-03 regular-season series, each team winning once and losing once at home. The Hurricanes were led by Jeff O’Neill, who recorded four points (2g, 2a) against New Jersey in the four-game series. Carolina posts a 34-40-12-1 all-time mark against the New Jersey franchise, including a 18-17-8-0 home record and a 16-23-4-1 road record.
