The Carolina Hurricanes begin a three-game home stand on Monday against division rival Florida. The Hurricanes and Panthers have not met since Oct. 13. Carolina will play host to Toronto on Thursday and Boston on Saturday before returning to the road for four consecutive games away from Raleigh.
Injured winger Justin Williams leads the Hurricanes with 31 points (9g, 22a) this season. Forward Josef Vasicek leads the team in goals (15), power-play goals (6) and ranks second on the team with 29 points while playing in all 57 of the team's games this season. Hurricanes forward Josef Vasicek has 11 points (4g, 7a) in the last 14 games. CAROLINA / PATHERS NOTES
The Hurricanes and the Panthers meet for their third of six match ups during the 2003-04 regular season. Florida won the teams' initial meeting on Oct. 9 in Sunrise, 3-1 before the teams skated to a 2-2 tie on Oct. 13 at the RBC Center. The teams will meet again for two meetings in March before playing each other in the regular-season finale on April 4, at the Office Depot Center.
The Panthers won four of the teams' five 2002-03 regular-season match ups, including the three meetings in Sunrise. The Hurricanes were led by Erik Cole, Ron Francis, Sean Hill and Jeff O'Neill, who each recorded three points against Florida in the five-game regular-season series. The Hurricanes post an 18-18-10-1 all-time record against the Panthers, including an 11-9-3-0 home mark and a 7-9-7-1 road record.
