HURRICANES REASSIGN JAMIE STORR TO LOWELL

Goaltender to Join Lock Monsters on Thursday

RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 18, 2004) – Jim Rutherford, President / General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has reassigned goaltender Jamie Storr to Lowell of the American Hockey League. Storr will not be in the Lock Monsters’ lineup for their game tonight against Manchester, but will join the team for practice on Thursday.

Storr, 28, has posted a 0-8-2 record, 2.91 goals-against average and a .878 save percentage in 14 appearances with the Hurricanes since the team signed him as a free agent on Oct. 3. Prior to joining the Hurricanes, the Brampton, Ont., native played 205 games in nine seasons with Los Angeles, posting a 85-78-21 record and a 2.52 goals-against average. Storr (6’ 2”, 195 lbs.) last played minor-league hockey for Long Beach of the now-defunct International Hockey League during the 1997-98 season.

Storr’s reassignment to Lowell follows the Hurricanes’ recall of goaltender Arturs Irbe on Tuesday from Johnstown of the ECHL. Irbe will practice with the Hurricanes at 12 p.m. today at the RBC Center.

The Hurricanes continue their three-game home stand on Thursday at the RBC Center at 7 p.m. against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Individual game tickets for all Hurricanes games are available at the Dodge Box Office at the RBC Center, all TicketMaster locations, or by calling 919-834-4000.
