HURRICANES TO HOLD RESCHEDULED \u2018MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY\u2019 ON SATURDAY AT THE RBC CENTER

A portion of all ticket sales for game vs. Boston to benefit military families

RALEIGH, N.C. (Feb. 18, 2004) – Matt West, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Sales for the Carolina Hurricanes announced today that Saturday’s game against the Boston Bruins will be the rescheduled “Military Appreciation Day” at the RBC Center. The event, sponsored by RBC Centura, WRAL-TV and the Carolina Hurricanes, will pay tribute to the men and women who serve the United States in each of the branches of the military. A portion of all ticket sales leading up to the event will go to benefit North Carolina military families. Face-off is set for 7:00 p.m.

“Military Appreciation Day” was originally scheduled for Jan. 25, when the Hurricanes played the Buffalo Sabres. The event was postponed by that day’s inclement weather.

Prior to the game, military equipment including four helicopters, military police vehicles, an Avenger vehicle and a HIMARS vehicle will be on display outside of the RBC Center, and information on each branch of the military will be available throughout the event. During the game, promotions will honor service personnel, and video greetings from Fort Bragg-based troops currently serving in Iraq will be played on the RBC Center JumboTron.

The military equipment and vehicle display will be set up in the RBC Center’s bus lot, typically used by media for parking. To make space for the military equipment and vehicles, media are asked to park in the first row of the East Premier lot prior to Saturday’s game. RBC Center parking attendants will direct media to the East Premier lot upon their arrival.

Due to the capacity crowd expected for Military Appreciation Day and the activities planned in the parking lots at the RBC Center, management anticipates heavy traffic influx in and around the RBC Center.

Davin Olsen, Vice President and General Manager of the RBC Center said "We will open our parking facilities at 3:30 p.m. to allow fans to come and enjoy viewing the helicopters and other military vehicles. The building will open at 5:30 p.m., one half hour earlier than we normally open, so fans can tour and observe the displays inside as well."

Olsen encourages fans to arrive early to participate in all of the activities and to ensure they get through the security screening in place.

"If possible, fans should carpool and have exact change ready when approaching the cashier." he said.

He also suggests fans check the RBC Center web site for alternate routes and items prohibited inside the RBC Center. Fans should leave all unnecessary items at home or in their vehicle to alleviate the security process and entry into the building.

Fans can also listen to AM 1630 on their radio as they approach RBC Center for the latest updates.

Tickets for Saturday’s game and all Carolina Hurricanes home games are available via the RBC Center’s Dodge Box Office, by calling TicketMaster at 919-834-4000 or via the team’s official website, www.CarolinaHurricanes.com.
