GAME NIGHT
The Carolina Hurricanes return to the RBC Center to play host to Columbus on Tuesday on the heels of a successful four-game road swing that saw them net six of a possible eight points (2/23-2/29: 2-0-1-1) at Toronto, Washington, Montreal and Minnesota. This marks the Blue Jackets’ fourth visit to the RBC Center since joining the NHL for the 2000-01 season. The Hurricanes hold a 3-0-0-0 record in the teams’ first three Raleigh meetings.

Forward Josef Vasicek is tied for the team lead with 34 points (16g, 18a) this season. Vasicek’s 16 goals rank first on the team, and his six power-play goals rank tied for first. Winger Justin Williams is tied with Vasicek with 34 points (10g, 24a) and leads Carolina forwards with a plus-10 rating. Right wing Jeff O’Neill ranks third with 33 points (13g, 20a) while playing in all 64 of Carolina’s games.

CAROLINA NOTES
On Feb. 25, the Hurricanes managed a win against division rival Washington for the first time this season. But, the man with the game-winning goal was no stranger to the Capitals, and is no stranger to the Hurricanes franchise’s leader boards. Jeff O’Neill notched the game-winner during a 5-on-3 Carolina power play, his 196th NHL/Hurricanes goal and his 65th on the power play. The marker tied O’Neill with Geoff Sanderson for fourth on the franchise’s all-time goal-scoring list, and fifth on the all-time power-play goals list, just another among his list of milestone accomplishments this season. On Feb. 29, O’Neill scored another power-play goal to move him into sole possession of fourth place on the franchise goal-scoring list, and fifth place on the team’s power-play goals list.

MILESTONE WATCH
Center Rod Brind’Amour will play in his 300th Hurricanes game with his next game played.

CAROLINA / BLUE JACKETS NOTES
The Hurricanes and the Blue Jackets open their two-game season series on Tuesday at the RBC Center. The teams will play again on March 8 at Nationwide Arena to conclude the two-game, cross-conference set. Last season, the Hurricanes took the teams’ two-game set, scoring a 4-2 win in Columbus on Nov. 30, and a 6-5 win at the RBC Center on March 10. In five meetings since the Blue Jackets assumed play during the 2000-01 season, the Hurricanes have posted a 4-1-0-0 record, including a 3-0-0-0 home record and a 1-1-0-0 record at Nationwide Arena.
