The Carolina Hurricanes return to the RBC Center on Wednesday to open a two-game, Southeast Division home stand against division leader Tampa Bay. The Hurricanes will play their next four games against division rivals Tampa Bay and Atlanta, with the Thrashers visiting Raleigh on Friday, and Carolina traveling to Tampa Bay on Saturday and Atlanta on Monday to begin a five-game road swing.
Forward Josef Vasicek leads the team with 35 points (16g, 19a) while playing in all 68 of Carolina’s games this season. Vasicek’s 16 goals rank first on the team, and his six power-play goals rank second. Winger Justin Williams is tied for second with 34 points (10g, 24a) and leads Carolina forwards with a plus-10 rating. Injured right wing Jeff O’Neill also has 34 points (14g, 20a) and leads the team with seven power-play goals while playing in 67 of Carolina’s 68 games.
Center Rod Brind’Amour is four points shy of 900 NHL points.

The Hurricanes traded center Ron Francis to Toronto in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick in 2005 on Tuesday, prior to the NHL’s trading deadline… Carolina recalled center Mike Zigomanis and winger Ryan Bayda from top minor-league affiliate Lowell (AHL) on Tuesday… The Hurricanes are currently 5-8-4-0 against divisional opponents in 2003-04. Hurricanes went 4-11-3-2 against the Southeast Division in 2002-03. Since the division was created prior to the 1998-99 season, Carolina has recorded a 48-33-27-3 record in 111 games against the Washington Capitals, Atlanta Thrashers, Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning.

CAROLINA / LIGHTNING NOTES
The Hurricanes and the Lightning begin the meet for the fifth of six meetings during the 2003-04 season. The teams tied in two of their three November meetings, 1-1 on Nov. 9 in Raleigh and 0-0 on Nov. 23, also in Raleigh. The Lightning scored two wins at St. Pete Times Forum against the Hurricanes earlier this season, 4-3 on Nov. 1 and 5-4 on Jan. 15. Tampa Bay’s Cory Stillman leads all scorers in this season’s series with six points (2g, 4a), while Josef Vasicek leads the Hurricanes with four points (2g, 2a). The teams will conclude their six-game set on March 13 at St. Pete Times Forum.
The Hurricanes were winless against Tampa Bay in 2002-03 for the first season in franchise history, notching just three points in the five games between the teams (0-2-2-1). Ron Francis led all Hurricanes in scoring against Tampa Bay last season with three points (1g, 2a) in five games. The Hurricanes are 23-17-10-1 all-time against the Lightning, including a 15-3-7-1 home mark and an 8-14-3-0 record in Tampa.
