GAME NIGHT
The Carolina Hurricanes wrap up a two-game home stand on Friday against the Atlanta Thrashers at 7 p.m. The contest in the second in a four-game stretch against divisional opponents Atlanta and Tampa Bay that began with a 4-2 loss on Wednesday to the Lightning. Following Friday’s game, the Hurricanes will travel to Tampa Bay for a Saturday evening contest that begins a five-game road swing for Carolina.

CAROLINA NOTES
Forward Josef Vasicek leads the team with 35 points (16g, 19a) while playing in all 69 of Carolina’s games this season. Vasicek’s 16 goals rank first on the team, and his six power-play goals rank second. Winger Justin Williams is tied for second with 34 points (10g, 24a) and leads Carolina forwards with a plus-8 rating. Injured right wing Jeff O’Neill also has 34 points (14g, 20a) and leads the team with seven power-play goals while playing in 67 of Carolina’s 69 games… O’Neill will have surgery on Friday to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

CAROLINA / THRASHERS NOTES
The Hurricanes and the Thrashers meet tonight for the fifth of six regular-season match ups, and the first of two in the next four days. The teams will conclude their six-game divisional series on March 15 at Philips Arena. Jeff O’Neill notched his second career hat trick on Jan. 16 to lead the Hurricanes past the Thrashers. The Hurricanes defeated the Thrashers 5-1 at the RBC Center on Nov. 13, as Erik Cole (1g, 1a) and Ron Francis (1g, 1a) led the scoring. Kevyn Adams scored the game-winning shorthanded goal with 0.4 seconds remaining in overtime on March 5 at Philips Arena to score Carolina its third win of the season against the Thrashers.

Last season, Atlanta scored its first two regular-season victories against the Hurricanes after Carolina posted a 12-0-3-0 record against the Thrashers in Atlanta’s first three seasons. Atlanta downed the Hurricanes for the first time on Dec. 27 in Raleigh and again March 26 in Atlanta. Carolina won two of the teams’ five matches, including one in overtime on Dec. 20 at Philips Arena. Jeff O’Neill posted six points (3g, 3a) in the five-game regular-season series to lead Carolina and Ilya Kovalchuk led Atlanta with nine points (6g, 3a). The Hurricanes are 17-3-4-0 all-time against the Thrashers, including a 9-2-1-0 home record and a 8-1-3-0 road mark.
