HURRICANES ANNOUNCE 2004 PRESEASON SCHEDULE

Caniac Carnival slated for Oct. 3 prior to game against Atlanta

Caniac Carnival
A home preseason game on Oct. 3 against the Atlanta Thrashers will coincide with the annual Caniac Carnival.
RALEIGH, N.C. (July 14, 2004) – Jason Karmanos, Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the Hurricanes’ 2004 preseason schedule. The eight-game schedule is highlighted by three games at the RBC Center, including an Oct. 3 matinee against Atlanta when the team will celebrate the new season with its annual Caniac Carnival.

As in prior years, Carolina will play Southeast Division rivals exclusively during the preseason, and will host one game at its ECHL affiliate, the Florida Everblades’, arena in Estero, Fla.

The Hurricanes will open the preseason against the Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning on Sept. 25. The game will be played at Germain Arena in Estero, Fla., home of Carolina’s ECHL affiliate, the Florida Everblades. The Hurricanes then play three road games on consecutive nights – at Florida’s Office Depot Center on Sept. 27, at Tampa Bay’s St. Pete Times Forum on Sept. 28 and at Atlanta’s Philips Arena on Sept. 29.

The Hurricanes play their first of three preseason games at the RBC Center on Friday, Oct. 1 against the Florida Panthers at 7 p.m. and continue the home schedule with the 1:30 p.m. tilt against Atlanta on Oct. 3. The preseason schedule concludes with a home-and-home set against the Washington Capitals beginning Oct. 8 in Raleigh and wrapping up the next night at the MCI Center.
