HURRICANES ANNOUNCE SEASON TICKET HOLDER OPTIONS

Fans have five choices as lockout provisions

RALEIGH, N.C. (Sept. 16, 2004) – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the lockout provisions for Hurricanes season ticket holders. Fans have five options for the refund of season ticket payments for games that are cancelled. The NHL Board of Governors announced yesterday that NHL teams will not play until the current Collective Bargaining Agreement is renegotiated. As a result, the opening of training camp and the start of the 2004-05 season will be delayed.

The options are the same as the ones presented to fans in the spring, with the addition of three extra options. Each choice rewards fans for keeping their investments with the club by enabling them to earn five percent simple interest on all payments made to their accounts prior to Sept. 16, 2004. Option one allows fans to keep all of their potential credit from cancelled games and the additional five percent simple interest in their accounts to utilize for additional tickets during the 2004-05 season. The additional tickets will be priced significantly lower than the current season ticket holder rate.

Option two allows fans to guarantee an escalating discount beyond the announced season ticket prices for the next three seasons. With that option, fans elect to keep all of their potential credit from cancelled games and the five percent simple interest on account with the Hurricanes and commit to a long term agreement on their season tickets. The escalating discount rewards fans with 10 percent off on top of the already discounted season ticket price in the first year, 15 percent off in year two and 20 percent off in the third year. Option three allows fans to earn five percent simple interest if they choose to keep their money on account with the Hurricanes and use it on the following season’s ticket renewal.

Options four and five involve refunds. Fans can take a partial refund for cancelled games, plus 2% simple interest where applicable, and keep the rest of the remaining money on account with the Hurricanes to retain their account priority and seat locations. Option five allows for a full refund. Fans who choose option five forego their account priority, the rights to their seats and any simple interest that may have accrued since Sept. 16, 2004. The five options are described in detail in the attached document.

Rutherford also announced today that the Hurricanes will be hosting a Town Hall meeting open to all season ticket holders and mini-plan holders. The Town Hall meeting will feature Rutherford and Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos, Jr. and will take place on Thursday, Oct. 14 at the RBC Center.
