HURRICANES ANNOUNCE FUNDRAISING EFFORT FOR STORM VICTIMS

Fans Can Make Contribution at area RBC Centura Banking Centers

RALEIGH, N.C. (Sept. 28, 2004) – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has partnered with RBC Centura, WRBZ 850 The Buzz and the Triangle Chapter of the American Red Cross in an effort to raise money for victims of recent Hurricane destruction.

Anyone may stop by one of the following RBC Centura banking centers on Friday, Oct. 1. between noon and 5 p.m. to make a contribution. Stormy and the Storm Squad will be visiting each location to encourage donations and thank contributors for their generosity.

"We're proud to join our partners in this effort to help provide relief to those in need," said Molly Sapienza with RBC Centura. "Our goal is to fill a total of 500 'puck banks' and we encourage the Triangle community to come out and help us make a difference." Participating branch locations are:

The total amount collected will be matched up to $5,000 by the Carolina Hurricanes’ Kids ‘N Community Foundation and presented to the Triangle Chapter of the American Red Cross.

“The damage caused by Hurricanes Charley, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne has devastated homes and lives across the southeastern United States. Contributing to the recovery is important to us as an organization,� said Emma Bennett, Executive Director of the Kids ‘N Community Foundation.

The Triangle Area Chapter of the American Red Cross has also set up an online donation form, which is available now, for those who wish to contribute that way.
