HURRICANES ANNOUNCE 2005 PRESEASON SCHEDULE
RALEIGH, NC – Jason Karmanos, Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the team’s eight-game 2005 preseason schedule. As in previous seasons, the exhibition schedule will be played primarily against Southeast Division rivals, with a Sept. 25 tilt at Nashville being the lone exception.

Carolina opens the preseason schedule with a four-game home stand, highlighted by a 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon contest on Sept. 18, against the Florida Panthers. The game will be the culmination of the Caniac Carnival, the Hurricanes' longtime season kickoff event, and parking and admission will be free of charge for all fans. Season-ticket holders and mini-plan holders, who normally receive free admission to one preseason game, will still have access to their seats for the Sept. 18 game, and will also receive complimentary admission to the Sept. 16 exhibition game against Washington. The general public will be given assigned seats for the Sept. 18 game on a first-come, first-served basis when doors open.

The Hurricanes open the 2005 exhibition schedule on Friday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. against Washington. Carolina will also play host to Atlanta on Sept. 21, and defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay on Sept. 22. Following their four-game preseason home stand, the Hurricanes will play exhibition games on Sept. 24 at Atlanta, Sept. 25 at Nashville, Sept. 29 at Florida and Sept. 30 at Tampa Bay.
