HURRICANES ANNOUNCE 2005 TRAINING CAMP SCHEDULE
First official on-ice practice Sept. 13 at RBC Center

RALEIGH, NC – Peter Laviolette, Head Coach of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the practice schedule for the team’s 2005 Training Camp. The Hurricanes officially report to training camp on Sept. 12, for player physicals. The team takes to the ice for its first practice on Sept. 13, at the RBC Center at 8:30 a.m. All Hurricanes practices are open to the media and the public.

The Hurricanes will practice in two groups for the first week of training camp, with the exception of Saturday, Sept. 17, when there will be a team scrimmage at the RecZone at 2:30 p.m. The two practice groups will alternate on-ice practice times, with one group starting at 8:30 a.m. and the other starting at 11 a.m. most days during the opening week of training camp.

Carolina has three full days of practice prior to its preseason opener on Sept. 16, against Washington at the RBC Center. The team’s exhibition schedule is highlighted by a 3 p.m. contest on Sunday, Sept. 18, against the Florida Panthers. The game will be the culmination of the Caniac Carnival, the Hurricanes’ longtime season kickoff event, and parking and admission will be free of charge for all fans. Carolina will also play host to Atlanta on Sept. 21, and defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay on Sept. 22. Following their four-game preseason home stand, the Hurricanes will play exhibition games on Sept. 24 at Atlanta, Sept. 25 at Nashville, Sept. 29 at Florida and Sept. 30 at Tampa Bay.

The full practice schedule for training camp is available here. Camp concludes on Oct. 4, as the team will travel to Tampa that afternoon for its regular-season opener, which takes place Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
