HURRICANES TO HOST KATRINA RELIEF WEEKEND
All group and individual sales for Sept. 16 preseason game to benefit American Red Cross

RALEIGH, NC –
Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the team will host a special “Katrina Relief Weekend” from Sept. 16-18 in Raleigh. The weekend will feature several events designed to help raise much-needed funds for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and along the Gulf Coast.

  • On Friday, Sept. 16, the Hurricanes host the Washington Capitals in their preseason opener at the RBC Center at 7 p.m. One hundred percent of all individual ticket sales and all group sales for the game will go directly to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. For more information on how to purchase group tickets for the game, please call 1-866-NHL-CANES. Individual tickets purchased will include the words “Box office proceeds donated to American Red Cross.". Individual tickets may be purchased at the RBC Center box office, at CarolinaHurricanes.com and through all TicketMaster outlets. Please note that although these tickets are not tax deductable, all proceeds will be donated to help the Americans who need it most right now.

  • On Saturday, Sept. 17, the Hurricanes will play a team scrimmage at the RecZone on Hodges Street in Raleigh at 3:30 p.m. Stormy and the Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina Storm Squad will be on hand to accept voluntary donations for the American Red Cross. In addition, fans will be able to purchase the Carolina Hurricanes 2005 Training Camp Guide at the scrimmage and all Hurricanes preseason practices for $5, with all of the proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross.

  • On Sunday, Sept. 18, the Hurricanes will host the Caniac Carnival from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the RBC Center, concluding with the team’s exhibition match-up against the Florida Panthers at 3 p.m. Parking for the event and tickets to the game are free to all fans, as supplies last. The American Red Cross and the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, local affiliate of America’s Second Harvest, will set up at the Carnival and during the game and will be accepting donations.

All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.
