HURRICANES MAKE TRAINING CAMP ROSTER MOVES

RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has sent forwards Chad LaRose and Andrew Ladd, and defenseman Danny Richmond to its American Hockey League affiliate, the Lowell Lock Monsters. The moves trim the Hurricanes’ training camp roster to 23 players, the maximum allowed when the NHL regular season begins on Wednesday, Oct. 5. NHL teams have until 3 p.m. on Oct. 4 to submit their final opening-night rosters.
LaRose, 23, played in six of the Hurricanes’ eight preseason games, scoring two goals and earning three assists while posting a plus-2 plus/minus rating and four penalty minutes. Richmond, 21, played in four of Carolina’s eight exhibition match ups, posting one goal, two assists, a plus-1 rating and two penalty minutes. Ladd, 19, sustained a chest injury during the Hurricanes’ first preseason game on Sept. 16 against Washington and did not dress for Carolina’s final seven exhibition games.
Following an off day on Saturday, the Hurricanes will practice the following three days at the RecZone beginning at 11 a.m. Carolina opens the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Tampa Bay before returning to Raleigh for its home opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday, Oct. 7.
