'SKATE WITH THE CANES' TICKETS ON SALE THURSDAY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Nov. 15, 2005
RALEIGH, NC – Emma Bennett, Community Relations Manager for the Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that tickets will go on sale Thursday for the team’s annual “Skate with the Canes” charity fundraising event. Tickets for the event, which will take place from 1-3 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the RBC Center, go on sale during the Hurricanes’ game Thursday night against the New York Rangers at the RBC Center. Tickets are $50 per person, with children under two admitted free, and all proceeds benefit the Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation.
“This is always a popular event for the fans and the players,” said Bennett. “It gives our players and fans a chance to get to know each other in an intimate setting, and the tickets are available in time for the holidays.”
During ‘Skate with the Canes,’ fans and players will rotate through three areas – an autograph area, a locker room tour and a skating session – in small groups of 250. Each group of fans will be able to interact with every Hurricanes player and coach in one of the three areas. During the ‘skate’ session, fans skate with Hurricanes players and their families on the ice at the RBC Center. Fans may bring their own skates or pick up a rental pair before hitting the ice. The ‘autograph’ session presents fans with a chance to have merchandise signed and to chat with players. The ‘locker room’ portion of the event allows fans to have their pictures taken with players in the team locker room by a professional photographer or with their own cameras. Fans may also take a self-guided tour of the facility.
Additional activities during the event include visits from Stormy, clowns and face painters, bubble hockey, the slap shot booth, food and beverages, a raffle and a silent auction.
The Kids ‘N Community Foundation provides much needed funding to children’s charities and education programs throughout North Carolina. With ongoing support from annual special events and the corporate community, the Foundation has funded scholarship programs, youth hockey, educational and literacy efforts, children’s health programs, the arts and other children’s related initiatives. Annually, the Foundation provides cash and in-kind contributions totaling nearly $1 million to charitable and educational programs in North Carolina. Every member of the Hurricanes organization is actively involved in community activities. The Hurricanes take great pride in the ability to have a positive impact in our state.
Tickets are available starting Thursday night during the game, and may be purchased at the RBC Center box office. Out of town buyers may get more information or purchase by credit card by contacting the community relations department at (919) 467-7825, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
