Carolina Notes
Hurricanes winger Craig Adams, a player more typically known for his hard skating and physical play than his offensive production, has found his name on the score sheet of late. On Dec. 6 at Anaheim, Adams notched the primary assists on all three of linemate Kevyn Adams' goals, helping Kevyn to his second career NHL hat trick, and second hat trick of 2005-06. Two games later, Craig scored in the Hurricanes' final game of a six-game road swing at San Jose. Upon the team's return to the RBC Center on Dec. 13 against Chicago, he ignited the Hurricanes' offense in the first period with a backhanded flip shot on a breakaway to beat goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin and get a five-goal rally underway. He scored again in the third period to cap Carolina's scoring in a 5-3 victory.

The Hurricanes re-acquired Craig Adams on Oct. 3 from Anaheim after he signed a one-year contract and attended training camp with the Mighty Ducks. The Carolina organization originally drafted the Seria, Brunei, native and Harvard Crimson alum in the ninth round, 223rd overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. In 253 NHL games, all with Carolina, Adams has scored 18 goals and added 28 assists (46 points) and accumulated 200 penalty minutes.

On Wednesday, the Hurricanes reassigned goaltender Cam Ward to Lowell (AHL) for a conditioning stint. In a related move, Kevin Nastiuk, the Hurricanes' fourth-round choice in 2003, was recalled to Carolina. The Hurricanes plan to recall Ward from Lowell on Monday.
