HURRICANES RECALL DANNY RICHMOND FROM LOWELL
Defenseman is an emergency recall for tonight’s game against Tampa Bay

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Dec. 20, 2005

RALEIGH, NC –
Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled defenseman Danny Richmond from Lowell of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis. He will be available for tonight’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at 7 p.m. at the RBC Center.

This marks the second time that Richmond has been called up from Lowell this season. He played in seven games with the Hurricanes during his first NHL recall which began with his NHL debut in Carolina’s game at Florida on Nov. 11. He was reassigned to Lowell on Nov. 24. Selected by the Hurricanes with the first pick of the second round (31st overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Richmond has two goals and eight assists (10 points) in 23 games this season for Lowell.

The Carolina Hurricanes continue a five-game home stand on Tuesday against Tampa Bay (7 p.m., FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network). The Hurricanes are unbeaten on the home stand, having defeated Chicago, Columbus and New Jersey last week to improve their season record to 21-9-2, the second-best record in the Eastern Conference. Fans who donate a new or gently worn, laundered winter hat, scarf or gloves to the Goodwill Community Foundation prior to Tuesday’s contest will receive a two-for-one ticket voucher for lower level or club level tickets to the game. The Hurricanes conclude the home stand against Florida on Friday (7 p.m., Hurricanes Radio Network). Individual game tickets for all Hurricanes games at the RBC Center in November, December and January can be purchased at the RBC Center box office, all TicketMaster outlets, by calling 919-834-4000 or via CarolinaHurricanes.com.
