Monday's Game
The Southeast Division-leading Carolina Hurricanes hit the road on Monday to face defending Stanley Cup champion and Southeast-Division No. 2 Tampa Bay (7 p.m., FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network). The Hurricanes are coming off the most successful five-game home stand in franchise history, having scored wins against Chicago (12/13: 5-3), Columbus (12/15: 2-1), New Jersey (12/17: 4-1), Tampa Bay (12/20: 6-4) and Florida (12/23: 4-3) to run their home record to 14-4-0 this season, the second-best home record in the Eastern Conference.

The Hurricanes currently post a 23-9-2 record, including wins in seven of the last eight games (12/6-12/23: 7-1-0), and hold the largest lead of any NHL division leader with a nine-point edge over Tampa Bay. The team is currently on pace for a 116-point season.

Hurricanes center Eric Staal ranks tied for the league lead in goals (25) and ranks tied for fourth in the league with 49 points. Staal has notched points in 27 of the Hurricanes' 34 games this season, and had a career-high 10-game points streak (10/20-11/11: 7g, 12a) prior to the Hurricanes' Nov. 12 shutout loss against Atlanta. He ranks tied for first in the league with three shorthanded goals and tied for ninth in the league with nine power-play goals.
