Tonight's Game
The Southeast Division-leading Carolina Hurricanes begin a three-game home stand on Tuesday against the Central Division-leading Detroit Red Wings (7 p.m., OLN, Hurricanes Radio Network). The game is the first of three consecutive home games for Carolina against Central Division teams as Nashville (Jan. 13, 7 p.m., Hurricanes Radio Network) and St. Louis (Jan. 15, 1:30 p.m., Hurricanes Radio Network) will visit the RBC Center in the next week.

The Hurricanes wrapped a four-game home stand on Jan. 6 with a 4-1 win against the New York Islanders and have now earned points in each of their last nine home games (12/13-1/6: 8-0-1) helping them to a 17-4-1 home record, the best home record in the NHL. Carolina's last regulation loss at the RBC Center occurred on Nov. 29, a 5-2 loss to the Atlanta Thrashers. Overall, the Hurricanes post a 27-10-4 record, have earned points in 13 of the last 15 games (12/6-1/7: 11-2-2) and hold the largest lead of any NHL division leader. With 58 points in their first 41 games, the Hurricanes enjoyed their best first-half in franchise history, eclipsing the 47-point, 41-game start by the 2001-02 squad.

Carolina Notes
In 82 games with the Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning in 2003-04, left wing Cory Stillman totaled 25 goals and 55 assists (80 points) while playing primarily with league-leading scorer Martin St. Louis and centerman Brad Richards. So far this season, Stillman has been racking up the points himself. Through Carolina's first 41 games, Stillman has scored 14 goals and added 30 assists (44 points) to rank second on the team. He is currently on an 11-game points streak (12/15-1/7: 7g, 12a), eclipsing his previous career-high for consecutive games with at least one point (2/26-3/16, 1999: 6g, 6a). He has also scored goals in five straight games (12/29-1/7: 6g, 3a), matching his career-long goal-scoring streak (11/25-12/4, 1999: 5g, 1a).

Hurricanes center Eric Staal ranked tied for fourth in the NHL with 26 goals and ninth with 52 points through games of Jan. 8. Staal has notched points in 30 of the Hurricanes' 41 games this season. Through games of Jan. 8, he ranked tied for third in the league with three shorthanded goals and tied for 10th in the league with 10 power-play goals.

Against the Red Wings
Tonight marks the lone 2005-06 meeting between the Hurricanes and the Red Wings. The teams last met on Jan. 31, 2004, a 4-4 tie at Joe Louis Arena. That was the second meeting between the clubs in 2003-04 after Detroit took the first meeting on Jan. 2, 2004, 4-1 at the RBC Center. Henrik Zetterberg (2g, 1a), Pavel Datsyuk (1g, 2a) and Brendan Shanahan (0g, 3a) led the Red Wings with three points each in the 2003-04 season series, while Sean Hill (1g, 1a) and Radim Vrbata (1g, 1a) led Carolina with two points each. The Hurricanes post a 24-28-8-1 all-time record against the Red Wings, with a 17-12-1-0 home record and a 7-16-7-1 record in Detroit.
