RALEIGH, NC –
Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the Hurricanes have recalled forward Keith Aucoin from Lowell of the American Hockey League (AHL). Carolina assigned forward Niklas Nordgren to Lowell.

The Hurricanes signed Aucoin as a free agent on Aug. 4, 2005. A graduate of Norwich University, where he was a two-time ECAC-3 Player of the Year, Aucoin has tallied 253 points (87g, 166a) and 248 penalty minutes in 302 career AHL games with Lowell, Cincinnati and Providence.

Nordgren is in his first season with the Hurricanes and has notched four points (3g, 1a) in 38 games for Carolina. An eighth-round pick of the Hurricanes in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Nordgren played for Timra of the Swedish Elite League in 2004-05, tallying 36 points (19g, 17a) in 46 games.
