HURRICANES REASSIGN ANDREW LADD TO LOWELL
First-year winger to spend Olympic Break with AHL club

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 12, 2006

RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that left wing Andrew Ladd has been reassigned to Lowell of the American Hockey League. Ladd will spend the NHL Olympic break playing with the Carolina’s top minor-league affiliate.

Ladd, 20, is in his first professional season and has played in 17 games with Carolina, notching six goals and two assists (8 points). The Maple Ridge, B.C., native began the season with the Lock Monsters and has eight goals and four assists (12 points) in 17 AHL games. Ladd (6’2”, 201 lbs.) missed 18 NHL games following a knee injury he sustained in the Hurricanes’ game at Phoenix on Dec. 3. Carolina selected Ladd in the first round, fourth overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

The Carolina Hurricanes complete their pre-Olympic schedule today against the Buffalo Sabres (5 p.m., Hurricanes Radio Network). The team will honor all of its representatives heading to the 2006 Winter Olympic Games prior to and during the game, and the first 18,000 fans in attendance will receive Hurricanes car flags, courtesy of NBC-17 and Quintiles. Individual game tickets for all remaining Hurricanes games at the RBC Center can be purchased at the RBC Center box office, all TicketMaster outlets, by calling 919-834-4000 or via CarolinaHurricanes.com.
