HURRICANES RECALL NIKLAS NORDGREN FROM LOWELL

RALEIGH, NC – Jason Karmanos, Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that left wing Niklas Nordgren has been recalled from the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League. Nordgren had been assigned to Lowell on Feb. 7, and will practice with the Hurricanes Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the RBC Center.
Nordgren, 26, is in his first season of North American hockey and has played in 40 games with the Hurricanes, recording four goals and one assist (5 points). The Ornskoldsvik, Sweden, native has played in eight AHL games with the Lock Monsters and has recorded six goals and four assists (10 points) along with a plus-6 plus/minus rating. The Hurricanes selected Nordgren (6’0”, 185 lbs.) in the eighth round, 195th overall, in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
The Carolina Hurricanes return to action on Wednesday at the RBC Center when they host the Boston Bruins (7 p.m., Hurricanes Radio Network). The Hurricanes will then host the Florida Panthers on Friday at the RBC Center (7 p.m., FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network) before hitting the road for nine of their next 10 games.
