FRIDAY IS HURRICANES FAN APPRECIATION NIGHT
Stanley Cup will be on display

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – April 12, 2006

RALEIGH, NC –
The Carolina Hurricanes will hold their annual Fan Appreciation Night on Friday, April 14, as the team takes on the defending Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning. Before, during and after Friday’s game, the Hurricanes will pay special tribute to their fans with giveaways and on-ice presentations.

The night will include special displays on the RBC Center’s main concourse, including the Stanley Cup and the USA Hockey Hall of Fame traveling display. Fans are welcome to bring cameras as, time permitting, they will have the opportunity to take pictures of and with the Stanley Cup. All fans in attendance will receive an Eric Staal player magnet courtesy of Subway and a 2005-06 Hurricanes team poster courtesy of the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program. More than 30 fans will be selected to receive special sponsor bags, and randomly selected fans will receive Hurricanes players’ sticks on the ice following the game.

American Idol contestant Heather Cox will sing the national anthem prior to Friday’s game and will be on the concourse during the game’s first intermission to sign autographs. During the game’s second intermission, David “Oggie” Ogron will entertain fans as he tries to set the record for the most golf balls hit in a 60-second period. Ogron’s “Miracle Golf Tour” travels around the country as he performs his rapid golf-ball hitting to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and the Hurricanes will donate $5 for each ball he hits. Ogron will be on the concourse selling signed golf balls to raise additional money for St. Jude’s.

The Carolina Hurricanes host the defending Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday (7 p.m., FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network) in the first game of a back-to-back, home-and-home set between the clubs. Following Saturday’s game at Tampa Bay, the Hurricanes will return to Raleigh for the regular-season finale on Tuesday against Buffalo (7 p.m., OLN, Hurricanes Radio Network). Tickets for all Hurricanes games at the RBC Center can be purchased at the RBC Center box office, all TicketMaster outlets, by calling 919-834-4000 or via CarolinaHurricanes.com. Tickets to the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs are on sale now to the general public, with limited seats still available.
