RALEIGH, NC – Michael Hurley, Director of Broadcasting and Corporate Sales for the National Hockey League Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the team’s local television package for the first round of the 2006 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

FSN South will carry all Carolina Hurricanes first-round playoff games not otherwise aired by one of the league’s American national television rights holders, OLN and NBC. John Forslund will serve as the play-by-play announcer for the broadcasts, and he will be joined by color analyst Tripp Tracy. FSN South’s playoff coverage will also include a 30-minute pre-game show prior to each Hurricanes home playoff game. FSN South reporter Katy Temple will be a part of the pre-game show.

“We are thrilled that our fans will be able to experience the intensity of Hurricanes Stanley Cup Playoff hockey on FSN South,” said Hurley. “John and Tripp do a terrific job of capturing that excitement for the viewers.”

The Carolina Hurricanes, who earned the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a franchise record 112 points, will host the seventh-seeded Montreal Canadiens in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the RBC Center. Game 1 will be available on FSN South in all of North and South Carolina, and tickets to all first round games at the RBC Center are still available.
