WOOLLEY ADDED TO TRAINING CAMP ROSTER

RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the 2006 Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that veteran defenseman Jason Woolley has been invited to attend the Hurricanes’ 2006 training camp as a free-agent tryout. The team’s camp roster now stands at 50 players.
Woolley, 37, completed his 14th NHL season in 2005-06, totaling 19 points (1g, 18a) and 28 penalty minutes in 53 games for Detroit. The Toronto native ranked third among Red Wings defensemen in scoring despite missing 15 games with a groin injury. Woolley (6’0’’, 203 lbs.) has totaled 314 points (68g, 246a) and 430 penalty minutes in 718 career NHL games with Washington, Florida, Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Detroit.
The Hurricanes will open their 2006 Training Camp with photos and physicals on Thursday, Sept. 14. The Hurricanes will hit the ice for the first official practice of the 2006-07 season on Friday, Sept. 15, at 8:30 a.m. at the RecZone in Raleigh. All Hurricanes practices will be held at either the RecZone or the RBC Center and are open to the public and the media. The Carolina Hurricanes will open the 2006-07 season at the RBC Center on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. against the Buffalo Sabres.
