STANLEY CUP BANNER TO BE RAISED WEDNESDAY
Hurricanes encourage fans to arrive early, enjoy pre-game festivities

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Oct. 2, 2006

RALEIGH, NC—The Carolina Hurricanes will raise their 2006 Stanley Cup championship banner to the RBC Center’s rafters on Wednesday, Oct. 4, prior to their game against the Buffalo Sabres. RBC Center parking lots will open at 2:30 p.m., doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and fans are encouraged to arrive early and be in their seats by 6:45 p.m. to enjoy the festivities.

Prior to the game, fans can attend a tent party on the RBC Center’s south lawn beginning at 4:30 p.m. The band Liquid Pleasure will play from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and 96Rock will broadcast from the tent party. Local radio stations WRDU (106.1 FM) and G105 (105.1 FM) will also broadcast from the RBC Center. The first 18,000 fans entering the RBC Center will receive a special commemorative poster courtesy of RBC Centura.

The Stanley Cup, the Prince of Wales Trophy, the Conn Smythe Trophy and the Selke Trophy, each won by the Hurricanes or individual Hurricanes players in 2006, will be available for viewing during the game and both intermissions. Fans can take pictures of the trophies, but will not be able to pose with the trophies. The viewing will take place in the “Locker Room” bar area on the north end of the main concourse of the RBC Center from the 10-minute mark of the first period until the beginning of the third period.

Wednesday’s game will be broadcast nationally and in high-definition (where available) on Versus (formerly OLN). Versus will join the pre-game festivities shortly after 7 p.m. as the Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup championship banner is raised. Versus’ high-definition broadcast will be available in the Raleigh/Durham market on Time Warner Cable channel 291, and opening faceoff is scheduled for 7:13 p.m.
