HURRICANES TO RAFFLE OFF \"#1 FAN\" STANLEY CUP RING

All proceeds will benefit the Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Oct. 3, 2006

RALEIGH, NC—
Chris Diamond, Community Relations Manager for the 2006 Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team will raffle off a “#1 Fan” Stanley Cup championship ring this season. Raffle tickets will be sold at Hurricanes home games beginning with tomorrow night’s home opener against the Buffalo Sabres at the RBC Center, with all proceeds going to benefit the Carolina Hurricanes Kids ‘N Community Foundation.

The ring is identical to the rings each Hurricanes player from the 2006 Stanley Cup championship team received. It is a 14K white gold ring with the Hurricanes logo surrounding the Stanley Cup, set with quality rubies and black sapphires. There are more than 100 assorted collection quality diamonds on the ring.

Raffle tickets are available at the Kids ‘N Community kiosk, located adjacent to section 129 on the main concourse, at all Hurricanes home games from Oct. 4, 2006 through April 6, 2007. The winner will be chosen at random and announced during Fan Appreciation Day at the Hurricanes game against the Florida Panthers on April 7, 2007.

The Kids ‘N Community Foundation provides much needed funding to children’s charities and education programs throughout North Carolina. With ongoing support from players, annual special events and the corporate community, the Foundation has funded scholarship programs, youth hockey, educational and literacy efforts, children’s health programs, the arts and other children’s related initiatives. Annually, the Foundation provides cash and in-kind contributions totaling nearly $1 million to charitable and educational programs in North Carolina.

The Hurricanes open the 2006-07 season at the RBC Center tomorrow night at 7 p.m. against the Sabres. Individual-game tickets for “Opening Night 2” on Oct. 6 against New Jersey, and all Hurricanes home games in October and November are available at the RBC Center box office, all TicketMaster locations, by calling 919-834-4000 or via www.CarolinaHurricanes.com.
