AUCOIN REMOVED FROM IR, ASSIGNED TO ALBANY
Forward injured his foot in his lone game with Carolina this season

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Oct. 31, 2006

RALEIGH, NC—
The 2006 Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes today announced that forward Keith Aucoin had been removed from injured reserve and assigned to Albany of the American Hockey League (AHL). Aucoin was originally recalled by the Hurricanes on Oct. 15 and was placed on injured reserve on Oct. 19.

Aucoin played one game with the Hurricanes before being placed on injured reserve, skating in Carolina’s 5-1 win at Tampa Bay on Oct. 16. He skated for 5:49 of ice time and suffered a foot injury in the game. Prior to his recall, Aucoin, 27, ranked tied for first among Albany skaters with two goals and one assist (3 points) in the team’s first three games of the season. The Waltham, Mass., native made his NHL debut in 2005-06, earning one assist in seven games with the Hurricanes. Aucoin (5’9”, 187 lbs.) ranked 10th in the AHL last season with 85 points in 72 games with Lowell, Carolina’s former AHL affiliate.

The Carolina Hurricanes travel to Atlanta this evening, where they will take on the Thrashers Wednesday night (7 pm, FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network). Carolina returns to the RBC Center on Thursday, as the team hosts the Montreal Canadiens for the first time this season.
