Tonight's Game
The Carolina Hurricanes wrap up a four-game home stand on Wednesday when they play host to the New York Rangers in the teams’ first of four meetings this season (7 p.m., FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network). The Hurricanes opened the home stand with a 5-0 win on Nov. 9 against Washington before handling Pittsburgh 6-2 on Nov. 11. The Eastern Conference-leading Buffalo Sabres handed Carolina a 7-4 loss in the teams’ game on Monday, the third game of the current home stand for the Hurricanes. Carolina will travel to Washington on Thursday for a Friday evening match up against the Capitals at the Verizon Center before returning to Raleigh for a Saturday evening meeting against the Dallas Stars.

Hurricanes captain Rod Brind’Amour became the 71st NHL player to earn his 1,000th NHL point when he set up Carolina’s first goal in a 3-2 win at Ottawa on Nov. 4. Brind’Amour, 36, had four points in Carolina’s 5-2 win at Atlanta on Nov. 1, his 1,200th NHL game. Acquired by Carolina on Jan. 23, 2000, Brind’Amour played his 400th game with the Hurricanes on Oct. 7 in Washington and currently ranks tied for 69th in NHL history in points with 1,006 points. The 2006 Selke Trophy winner reached the 600-assist mark on Oct. 13 in Atlanta, and is 11 goals shy of 400 in his career.

Against the Rangers
Wednesday’s game marks the first of four regular-season meetings between the Carolina Hurricanes and the New York Rangers this season. The teams will meet again next Tuesday at Madison Square Garden before taking a break in the series until a Feb. 15 meeting at the RBC Center. Last season, Justin Williams led the Hurricanes with five points (3g, 2a) in the four-game set against the Rangers, while Michael Nylander paced New York with seven points (4g, 3a). The Hurricanes took three of the four games between the clubs last year, dropping just the Nov. 19 match up at MSG 4-3. Carolina holds a 41-44-7 all-time record against the Rangers, with a 26-16-3 home record and a 15-28-4 record at the Garden.
