HURRICANES ACTIVATE CORY STILLMAN
Winger joins 23-player roster, expected to play during road trip

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Dec. 4, 2006

RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that left wing Cory Stillman has been activated from the non-roster injured list. Stillman underwent surgery for a right shoulder injury on Aug. 18 and has not played a game this season.

Stillman is expected to begin his 12th NHL season and his second with the Hurricanes during the team’s road trip against Northwest Division opponents that kicks off on Tuesday at Calgary. The Peterborough, Ont., native earned 76 points in 72 games to rank tied for second among all Hurricanes players in 2005-06, and finished tied with center Eric Staal for the team lead with 55 assists.

During the team’s 25-game postseason run, Stillman (6’0”, 200 lbs.) earned 26 points (9g, 17a) en route to claiming his second Stanley Cup championship. With the Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup win in 2006, Stillman became the sixth player in NHL history to win the Stanley Cup in consecutive seasons with two different teams. Stillman was a member of Tampa Bay’s Cup-winning team in 2003-04.

The Carolina Hurricanes begin a four-game road swing against Northwest Division opponents on Tuesday against the Calgary Flames (9 p.m., FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network). After games at Edmonton, Vancouver and Colorado, the Hurricanes will return to the RBC Center on Dec. 15 to take on the Toronto Maple Leafs (7:30 p.m., FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network). Individual-game tickets for Hurricanes home games in December and January are available at the RBC Center box office, all TicketMaster locations, by calling 919-834-4000 or via www.CarolinaHurricanes.com.
