\'CANES ACTIVATE ADAMS, LADD FROM INJURED RESERVE
Keith Aucoin reassigned to Albany

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—Dec. 30, 2006

RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that center Kevyn Adams and left wing Andrew Ladd have been activated from the injured reserve list. Rutherford also announced that forward Keith Aucoin has been reassigned to the Albany River Rats, Carolina’s American Hockey League affiliate.

Adams has missed the Hurricanes’ last six games after undergoing a procedure to repair an injured wrist. The 32-year old center has appeared in 34 games for the Hurricanes this season, notching two goals and two assists (4 points). Prior to the procedure Adams had played in 162 consecutive regular-season and playoff games for the Hurricanes, and he will play his 300th game with Carolina with his next game played.

Ladd, 21, underwent an emergency appendectomy on Dec. 14 and has missed the Hurricanes’ last eight games. The second-year winger has played in 27 games with Carolina this season, scoring three goals and earning two assists. Ladd missed four games earlier this season with a shoulder injury.

Aucoin returns to Albany as the River Rats’ leading scorer, despite having played in just 20 of the team’s 32 games this season. Following his Dec. 15 recall to Carolina, Aucoin appeared in seven games with the Hurricanes, earning one assist. Aucoin signed with the Hurricanes as a free agent in August 2005 and he has now played in 15 NHL games in the past two seasons, totaling two assists.

The Hurricanes reach the midway point of the 82-game NHL regular season on Sunday as they play host to the Philadelphia Flyers in Carolina’s annual New Year’s Eve game at the RBC Center (8 p.m., FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network). Tickets for Sunday’s game and all Hurricanes home games in January are available at the RBC Center box office, all TicketMaster locations, by calling 919-834-4000 or via www.CarolinaHurricanes.com.
