TOMORROW’S GAME
The Carolina Hurricanes look to extend their three-game home winning streak against the Philadelphia Flyers on New Year’s Eve at the RBC Center (8 p.m., FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network). CAROLINA NOTES

  • The Hurricanes are 1-1-3-1 in their last six meetings against Philadelphia at the RBC Center. The Hurricanes scored their lone win in that span by an 8-6 score on Oct. 28, 2005, behind Eric Staal’s first NHL hat trick.
  • Carolina posts a 3-3-4 record in its last 10 games against Philadelphia, with five of the 10 games ending in overtime or a shootout.
  • Former Flyers winger and now Hurricanes leading goal scorer Justin Williams leads all NHLers (through games of Dec. 29) with 10 regular-season game-winning goals in calendar year 2006, one ahead of San Jose Sharks sniper Jonathan Cheechoo.
  • The Carolina Hurricanes post a 17-8-2 record with defenseman Andrew Hutchinson in the lineup.

AGAINST THE FLYERS
Tuesday’s game marks the second of four 2006-07 meetings between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Philadelphia Flyers. Carolina and Philadelphia will next meet on Feb. 22 at the RBC Center before closing out the season series at Philadelphia on March 28. Last season, three of the four meetings between the clubs went into overtime, with two of those games ending in a shootout. The Flyers had a shootout win on March 8 at Wachovia Center and an overtime win at the RBC Center on Dec. 29, while the Hurricanes won an 8-6 thriller at the RBC Center on Oct. 28, and scored a 4-3 shootout win in Philadelphia on Jan. 17. The Hurricanes post a 25-48-13-3 all-time record against the Flyers, with a 14-21-10-1 home record and a 11-27-6-2 record in Philadelphia.
