CarolinaHurricanes.com the first team site to undergo league-wide facelift

RALEIGH, NC—Ben Aycock, Manager of Creative Services for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced the re-launch of the team’s official website, CarolinaHurricanes.com. The Hurricanes are the first of the NHL’s 30 teams to undergo the transformation to a new, league-wide design to better serve fans following the team online.

“The Carolina Hurricanes organization is very pleased to be the first NHL team to participate in this network redesign,” said Aycock. “We recognize the fact that we have a tech savvy fan base that embraces all digital mediums and we strive to deliver them the best online experience possible.”

The NHL selected CarolinaHurricanes.com as the first team website to undergo the upgrade to the new design due to the amount and quality of content it delivers to Hurricanes fans. The redesigned website continues the commitment to content, adds new multimedia elements and will allow for easier navigation to site visitors.

Among the new features of the redesigned website are Hurricanes TV, a new streaming video player that will allow fans easier access to game highlights, interviews and other related video; up-to-the minute statistics and scores; and improved message boards. The new website also features archived video, audio, news releases and features, so fans can enjoy content from previous seasons. Along with the above listed features, the ticket-purchasing process has been improved allowing for a more efficient online-buying experience.

“We're excited to take this first step in the transition of all NHL Club sites to the new platform, and we deeply appreciate the Hurricanes' willingness to be the first to take that step with us,” said Keith Ritter, President, NHL Interactive CyberEnterprises. “The key to any great web site is content and the web team at the Hurricanes has done a fantastic job in developing a site that serves their fans.  We're happy that all that exciting content now lives on our new platform.”

The Hurricanes will celebrate Fan Appreciation weekend at the RBC Center on Friday, April 6, when the team takes on the Atlanta Thrashers (7 p.m. FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network) and Saturday, April 7 when the team hosts the Florida Panthers (7 p.m. FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network). Tickets for the final two Hurricanes home games are available at the RBC Center box office, all TicketMaster locations, by calling 919-834-4000 or via www.CarolinaHurricanes.com.
